Michigan made sure to highlight someone who is very special to the football program in its B1G opener against Maryland. Dametrius “Meechie” Walker is battling bone cancer, and the team helped set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for medical bills.
Walker was a 3-star DL from the 2022 class per the 247Sports Composite. Walker was seen in one of the end zones in a wheelchair being pushed around by a family member. He is a native of Muskegon, Michigan, and went to high school there as well.

Walker had offers from Michigan State, Central Michigan, Kentucky, Minnesota, Syracuse, and Western Michigan as a recruit.
Michigan football previously helped out the Walker family by creating a way for him to score a touchdown at the Big House in August. Head coach Jim Harbaugh pushed him to the end zone on a running play that went for 6.
What a kind gesture by the Michigan football program.
