Michigan’s first piece of the 2026 recruiting class is in place, landing a key commitment on Tuesday afternoon. It comes in the form of an elite quarterback prospect to jumpstart the cycle.

The player is Brady Hart, a 6-foot-4 and 180-pound recruit out of Cocoa High School in Cocoa, Florida. Hart was still early in his recruiting process but had already received elite offers from Texas A&M, Penn State, Oregon, Ole Miss, Ohio State, Nebraska, LSU, Miami, Clemson, Florida and others.

Now, Hart is a key recruiting piece for new head coach Sherrone Moore:

According to the 247 Sports Composite, Hart is a 4-star recruit and a top-100 player for the class of 2026. He’s rated the No. 7 QB of the cycle and the 92nd overall player in the country.

Hart is Michigan’s 1st commitment of the class, giving the Wolverines a key difference-maker to build around.

Outlook for Michigan

While the immediate outlook at QB is murky for Michigan, the long-term future of the position is looking secure under Moore. Jadyn Davis, a 4-star QB in the 2024 recruiting class, looks like the next guy under center, and the Wolverines coaching staff has lined up a string of elite players coming in.

Along with Hart in the 2026 recruiting class, Michigan currently holds a commitment from 4-star QB Carter Smith in the class of 2025. Those players should solidify the position for years to come in Ann Arbor.
