Michigan added a big piece to its 2025 recruiting class on Wednesday afternoon.
The Wolverines landed a commitment from 4-star defensive back Elijah Dotson. A Detroit native, Dotson had previously been committed to Pitt but is now slated to sign with Michigan next month.

Dotson had been committed to Pitt since May, but the Wolverines continued to recruit him. He took an official visit to Ann Arbor earlier this month prior to making a final decision on his college commitment.
Dotson is listed at 6-foot-2, 180 pounds. He attends Belleville High School in Detroit. He’s high school teammates with 5-star quarterback Bryce Underwood, who Michigan has reportedly been courting in recent weeks even as he remains committed to LSU.
Dotson is an elite prospect is his own right. He’s the No. 191 overall player and the No. 14 safety in the country for the class of 2025, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 2 player from the state of Michigan in this cycle.
The Wolverines now have 19 players committed in the class of 2025. The group sits at No. 11 nationally, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
