What was a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day (slight exaggeration) now isn’t so bad for Michigan. Donovan Edwards is a Wolverine.

One of the top running back recruits in the nation, Edwards committed to Michigan on Wednesday during the first day of the Early Signing Period.  Edwards is a four-star recruit and the nation’s No. 4 running back according to 247Sports.

Naturally, he had offers from all over the country including Oklahoma, Alabama, Florida, Miami, Notre Dame and Ohio State among others. He is the highest-ranked running back prospect to commit to Michigan since 247Sports began keeping track.

Edwards is the No. 44 player in the nation per the national rankings on 247Sports.

He is the second-highest ranked player in the class after quarterback J.J. McCarthy of IMG Academy. There are now two running backs in this class as Edwards joins three-star Tavierre Dunlap.

Also, there are now five players from the state of Michigan in this Wolverines class with the addition of Edwards, who plays for West Bloomfield.
