Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan program reached into Ohio State’s backyard to land the latest Wolverine commitment as Joey Velazquez has announced his public commitment to the Maize and Blue.
A native of Columbus, Velazquez already held a scholarship offer from Ohio State, just not from Urban Meyer’s program. Velazquez had been committed to play baseball for the Buckeyes but after landing offers from Michigan’s baseball and football program, the Ohio native has decided to attend college in Ann Arbor.
The 6-foot, 205-pound Velazquez is currently rated as a three-star prospect by 247Sports Composite Rankings. Outside of his Michigan offer, Velazquez currently holds football scholarship offers from Cincinnati, Indiana and Kent State.
He announced his public commitment to Michigan with the following tweet:
Extremely blessed to say that I will be furthering my academic, football, and baseball career at THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN! 〽️ #GOBLUE pic.twitter.com/YoRs1oqh47
