On Wednesday, Jan. 1, to kick off the new year, Michigan faces Alabama in the Citrus Bowl.
Some Wolverines, to close out 2019, want to end their season by proving people wrong. They’re not ignorant. They know they haven’t sealed the deal against Ohio State.
But if they want to get things started this new year and new decade right, then they’ll want to beat an Alabama program that essentially everybody looks up to.

It may be the Citrus Bowl, but a win over Alabama is a win over Alabama. Some would look at Michigan differently. Ahead of the matchup, Michigan linebacker Cam McGrone wants to send a message Wednesday afternoon:
“We just want to prove everybody wrong,” McGrone said. “All throughout the season, and even last season, we’ve had doubters, and we only listen to the voices in our room, but we kind of get a boost from shutting people up. So that’s what we plan to do.
“Like ‘Michigan isn’t anything, they’ve never been there.’ But our plan is to get there, and to get there we have to shut people up on the way.”
A win over Alabama may not get Michigan a national championship. But it would help “shut people up.”
