One Michigan linebacker is looking to go elsewhere with a Friday announcement that he is entering the transfer portal.
The player is Ben VanSumeren, a linebacker that saw action in 2019 as a running back, who is looking to move on from the Wolverines. He shared a highlight video to his personal Twitter account with his decision to move on.
“I have decided to enter the Transfer Portal and begin a new chapter in my life,” wrote VanSumeren.

VanSumeren was a three-star recruit and the No. 12 player out of Michigan for 2018 as an athlete. Michigan and Iowa were the notable B1G teams to recruit him out of high school.
In 2019, VanSumeren carried the ball nine times for 20 yards. He scored a touchdown in the season opener against Middle Tennessee State. He recorded eight total tackles as a linebacker in 2020.
It will be interesting to see where VanSumeren winds up moving forward and if he winds up staying on the defensive side of the ball.
