Michigan has made the Top 5 for Findlay (Ohio) High quarterback Ryan Montgomery.
The 6-foot-3 passer in the 2025 class cut his recruitment to just five schools on Tuesday; he has the Wolverines alongside Penn State, Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina. Montgomery already holds more than 20 Power Five offers.
Though he has an offer in hand from the Buckeyes, Ohio State isn’t currently in the mix for Montgomery. (The Buckeyes hold a commitment from a local 4-star quarterback in the 2025 class already.) Still, his brother Luke was a blue-chip offensive lineman in the 2023 class who signed with the Buckeyes.

Montgomery is a 4-star recruit in the industry-generated 247 Composite. He’s ranked as the No. 9 recruit from the state and the No. 15 quarterback in the class. Overall, he sits at No. 205 in the national player rankings.
The multi-sport athlete started 11 games at Findlay as a freshman. In those 11 games, Montgomery helped the school to an 8-3 record while throwing for 2,420 yards and 29 touchdowns. He completed 58% of his passes and was picked off just seven times. His play earned him a spot on the Ohio Division Northwest Division I First Team.
As a sophomore, Montgomery upped his completion percentage (60.3%) and threw for 1,787 yards and 22 scores in 11 games.
In June, he won the QB accuracy challenge at Under Armour’s Future 50 camp.
Michigan has three commitments so far in the 2025 class, but all are on the defensive side of the football. You can see Montgomery’s tape below, via Hudl:
Derek Peterson does a bit of everything, not unlike Taysom Hill. He has covered Oklahoma, Nebraska, the Pac-12, and now delivers CFB-wide content.
