Michigan has decided to mutually part ways with an assistant coach in order for him to pursue other opportunities.
Bruce Feldman of The Athletic and FOX Sports reported that Michigan and linebackers coach George Helow have parted ways. Helow who arrived in 2021, helped Michigan rank in the top 15 in yards per play both years and developed Junior Colson into a Freshman All-American and an All-Big Ten linebacker.
About 10 days ago, Michigan reportedly hired Chris Partridge, who was Ole Miss’ defensive coordinator last season. Partridge’s role was unknown at the time of the report of his move, but he previously coached safeties, linebackers and special teams for the Wolverines before he moved to Ole Miss.
Helow previously served as a position coach at Georgia (2014-15), Colorado State (2018-19) and Maryland (2020), in addition to staffer roles with Florida State and Alabama teams that won national titles.
