Michigan owns B1G’s top recruiting class after 4-star LB gives verbal pledge

Move over, Ohio State, there’s a new No. 1 in town. A busy June for Michigan has resulted in the Wolverines racing by the Buckeyes for the B1G’s top recruiting class, thanks to some big-time commitments on Thursday.

First, Michigan received a commitment from four-star running back Blake Corum, a Baltimore-area native who’s listed as the No. 17 back in the 2020 class. Later in the day, the Wolverines received another verbal pledge from four-star outside linebacker Kalel Mullings, a product of Massachusetts.

Thursday evening, Mullings made his announcement via Twitter. The 6-foot-1, 220-pound linebacker picked Michigan over offers from Stanford, Northwestern, Wisconsin and Boston College, among several other programs.

With Mullings’ commitment, Michigan now has 20 members in the 2020 class. The Wolverines have received pledges from 11 players in the moth of June alone.

Mullings is one of the top 150 players this cycle, coming in at No. 148 overall. He’s ranked as the top player from Massachusetts and the eighth-best outside linebacker of 2020. Mullings is an excellent addition to Michigan’s class.

The Wolverines now own the B1G’s top-ranked recruiting class, jumping a few spots ahead of Ohio State, which sits at No. 2 in the conference. Michigan’s class sits at No. 5 nationally, per 247Sports.
