The University of Michigan PD has completed its portion of the investigation into the altercation in the Michigan Stadium tunnel following the game between Michigan and Michigan State in Week 9. Now, the findings of the investigation will be turned over to prosecutors for review.
“In collaboration with our law enforcement partners and Michigan State University, UMPD has thoroughly investigated what occurred,” UM Deputy Chief of Police Melissa Overton said in the statement, via The Detroit News. “The case has been turned over to the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
“We understand and appreciate your interest in this unfortunate and unusual incident. Consistent with our commitment to transparency and due process, we will not share further information pending the prosecutor’s office review.”
Gemon Green and Ja’Den McBurrows reportedly sustained various injuries from the incident, including Green undergoing concussion protocol as a result. Green has hired attorney Tom Mars for representation in the matter.
Earlier this week, attorney Dave Diamond released a statement announcing he was representing one of the suspended Michigan State players. Diamond also disputed some of the claims from the incident, including who initiated the confrontation.
We will see what the findings of the investigation reveal down the road.
