Michigan QB battle: Cade McNamara has brilliant response when asked about offseason competition

Michigan had a bit of a unique quarterback situation during the 2021 season, and many are expecting an offseason battle for the starter’s spot entering 2022. However, 2021 starter Cade McNamara sees things a bit differently.
Last season, McNamara was the starter and led the Wolverines with 2,576 yards and 15 touchdowns while completing 64.2% of his passes. He also had a rushing touchdown to his credit.
However, 5-star freshman J.J. McCarthy was also worked into action consistently throughout the year. He appeared in 11 games and had 7 total touchdowns while completing 57.6% of his passes.
On Thursday, McNamara was asked about that offseason competition entering 2022. He responded by pointing out he is a B1G title-winning starter, and that’s how he views the battle with McCarthy entering spring practices.
Cade McNamara, asked about the competition between him and JJ during spring practice:

McNamara is certainly not wrong with that assessment. It will be interesting to see if he is able to hold onto that starter’s spot entering 2022.
