Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood is primed to light it up this fall in Ann Arbor, but it’s not fall quite yet and the 5-star phenom is showing he will never forget where he came from.

Underwood starred at Belleville High School in Belleville, Michigan, and after providing highlights galore on the football field there, he decided to give his alma mater 1 more special gift before taking his show to Ann Arbor.

After Underwood received a hefty NIL deal from Larry and Jolin Ellison, the potential future star of Michigan football decided that he wanted to give something back to a special person from high school. No, it wasn’t a high school sweetheart, a close pal, or even 1 of his parents or grandparents.

It was a security guard named Mych Darty, who means the world to Underwood. The future centerpiece of Michigan football decided he wanted to gift Darty a new car, and he documented the touching gesture in a video on his social media that included the headline: “Know your roots and who you’re rooting for.”

Clearly, Underwood is well aware of his roots and, clearly, he’s rooting for Darty.

Here is the complete video:

The best part of this whole interview is that Darty thought the interview was only going to be a discussion about their relationship. Darty had absolutely no idea that he was going to be walking out of that discussion with not just another layer of appreciation for Underwood but also some new wheels to go with it.

And why was Darty the beneficiary of Underwood’s generosity?

“The difference he made for the athletes here, honestly,” Underwood said. “Whenever we needed somebody to lean on, he was there. Whenever we needed to get out of class for a mental break or anything like that, he was there.

“He really cares and you can tell. He shows up for anybody and everybody, no matter what they did, no matter who they are.”
