Campbell’s promotion to quarterbacks coach followed U-M’s termination of co-offensive coordinator Matt Weiss amid a police investigation into computer access crimes. Campbell was Old Dominion’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the 2020 and ’21 seasons before he joined the Michigan staff. Before that, he was a Penn State analyst from 2017-19.
“Our offensive staff was really impressed with his knowledge and expertise of the entire offense, and he was integral to the success of the offense with game planning and opponent scouting,” Harbaugh said when promoting Campbell in January. “Kirk does an outstanding job developing relationships and I know he will have an outstanding rapport with our quarterbacks.”
