Michigan may have a quarterback controversy on its hands in Week 2.
The team has been content to start the season utilizing a 2-QB system, but how long will that go on? In Week 1, Davis Warren failed to impress for the most part, finishing with just 118 yards, 1 TD, and 1 INT.
In Week 2, Warren has struggled against the Texas Longhorns in the 1st half. The QB completed 4 of his first 6 passes for 35 yards with no scores and 1 INT.
Meanwhile, Alex Orji has not seen a lot of action under center, lending some fans to wonder why he is not getting more of a chance to run the offense. Coming out of training camp, head coach Sherrone Moore made it clear Warren won the job but was confident in Orji’s abilities. So far, it looks like Moore has not been entirely honest about the QB battle.
Heading into halftime vs. Texas, the Wolverines are in a massive hole and it’s hard to see the current QB play turning things around. Safe to say, many Michigan fans took to social media to complain about the poor QB play.

I’ve seen enough of Davis Warren to confidently say he’s not the guy

I repeat… “sink with Davis Warren then” https://t.co/UxjGibfNOl

The best takeaway from Davis Warren’s performance for Michigan today is that Vikings fans should be even MORE excited for J.J. McCarthy now.

There’s actually no way Davis Warren’s bum ass is our only option

Dillion Gabriel, Dequan Finn, Will Howard, Riley Leonard, Cam Ward all were available via the portal
Nope. Davis Warren and Alex Orji

If Alex Orji is actually worse at throwing a football than this guy… Oof. Michigan might be trouble for a while…

How bad is Alex Orji if Michigan keeps rolling out this trash bag?
— Franklin Reynolds (@mantistobogginn) September 7, 2024
Davis Warren cannot be substantially better than Alex Orji as a passer.
Offense is stale and defense isn’t good enough to make up for it.
Michigan needs a drastic change.

If the struggles continue, it will be interesting to see if Orji plays the 2nd half.
