Michigan is in the College Football Playoff picture.

Ok, so there’s still a month of football to be played, but if the season ended right now, the Wolverines would be in. At least according to ESPN.

Every Sunday, ESPN updates its power rankings following a full day of college football. And after a few more major upsets, Michigan is sitting in a pretty good position.

Alabama and Clemson occupy the top two spots and Notre Dame sits at No. 3. That crucial fourth spot belongs to the Wolverines following a win over No. 24 Michigan State in East Lansing.

Oklahoma is on the outside looking in.

The Wolverines improved to 7-1 on the season after the win and are a perfect 5-0 in B1G play. It seems like so long ago when Jim Harbaugh was written off after that season opening loss to Notre Dame.

Obviously there’s still plenty of football to be played, but Michigan is in pretty good position moving forward and most definitely controls its own destiny.
