On Saturday against the Huskies, Alex Storako pitched a seven-inning gem to secure a 2-1 victory. She gave up just three hits, one walk, one run and struck out 13 batters.
Michigan dominated the Big Ten all season, and perhaps should have hosted a regional. Instead, the Huskies — ranked No. 6 nationally — were tasked with defeating the Wolverines. The winner will advance to a Super Regional, where teams will have a chance to play for a Women’s College World Series berth.
This was Washington’s first home loss in an NCAA regional since 2002, according to MLive.com. Michigan is trying to advance to its first Super Regional since 2016.
Thanks to yesterday’s victory, Michigan will have two opportunities to defeat Washington. The first chance is at 7:00 p.m. central time on Sunday night. If Michigan loses, the teams will play a winner-take-all game at 9:30 p.m. CT.
