Michigan Stadium to increase security, alter procedures surrounding tunnel moving forward

Michigan Stadium has been the topic of conversation among multiple B1G fanbases in recent weeks. For the Week 11 game against Nebraska — and moving forward — the one-tunnel set up in the Big House is going to be adjusted.
In the game against Penn State, members of the Nittany Lions and Wolverines engaged in a bit of back-and-forth in the tunnel during halftime. Following the Michigan State game, a pair of Wolverines were injured and a number of Spartan players were suspended as a result of an ugly incident in the tunnel.
According to Angelique Chengelis with the Detroit News, the recent events has led Michigan to increase security between the field and the tunnel entrance moving forward.
“The most recognizable adjustment will be an increase in security staffing in areas bordering the tunnel opening to the field so that we can better monitor crowd and participant interactions,” said Kurt Svoboda, Michigan athletic director for external communications and public relations, via statement.
The gap between Michigan and the visiting team entering the tunnel at halftime and at the end of games will also be “more pronounced.”
We’ll see how these new changes have an impact on things at the Big House moving forward.
