Michigan State rolled in a big way Saturday, shutting out Akron to the tune of 52-0. The Spartans are now 2-0 on the young season.

On Monday, the Spartans announced Players of the Game from that performance with impact defender Jacoby Windmon included. That is no surprise with Windmon capturing his second straight Defensive Player of the Week Award in the B1G to begin the season.

Running back duo Jalen Berger and Jarek Broussard were also named. That two-man RB group combined for 188 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns with the offense, a huge outing as quarterback Payton Thorne failed to find the end zone.

Offensive linemen Jarrett Horst and Matt Carrick and defensive lineman Derrick Harmon were the other players honored.

We’ll see how that group and Michigan State as a whole perform in Week 3. The Spartans have a tough trip to the West Coast on deck with a matchup against Washington.
