Michigan State announces update on long snapper Ryan Armour’s injury

Last season, Michigan State had what seemed like dozens of impactful injuries take place.

Some Spartans lost just a week of action, while others saw their seasons end. Michigan State’s defense ranked extremely highly a year ago, but the offense was lacking. Part of that was just how the Spartans played.

But part of it also could have been attributed to injuries.

In Week 1 of 2019, Michigan State may have beaten Tulsa 28-7, but the Spartans didn’t walk out completely healthy. Long snapper Ryan Armour got carted off the field after injuring his leg during the game and on Tuesday, Michigan State issued an update on Armour’s injury:

“It’s a tough injury but he’s recovering mentally from it,” Dantonio said. “He’ll have to have surgery, so it’s season-ending.”

The season-ending injury leaves the long snapping job to a freshman walk-on in Jude Pedrozo, who made his collegiate debut late in the game against Tulsa.

“He was the heir apparent,” Dantonio said of Pedrozo. “He’s a good snapper. We recruited him with that idea the he would be the guy so he’s just now going to have to pick up the slack a little earlier. He went in and snapped very well, he’s done very well in practice and I have no regards in terms of how he’s going to do, I think he’ll be outstanding.”

Hopefully, this is not a sign of things to come for the Spartans.
