Tom Izzo’s squad earned a 67-54 win over Oakland on Wednesday. Michigan State has now won three games in a row, including one over B1G foe Penn State on Dec. 7.

The Spartans shot 49% from the floor and 45.5% from three-point range in the victory. Michigan State also out-rebounded Oakland 41-33.

The team’s leading scorer was Joey Hauser. Hauser had 16 points when the final buzzer sounded. The next two top point getters were Jaden Akins (15 points) and Tyson Walker (13 points).

Akins has battled a foot injury this season and recorded a season-high in points with the win. Akins looked pretty healthy on the court, knocking down a big time three-pointer during the first half.

Michigan State moves to 8-4 after beating Oakland. The Spartans next game against Buffalo on Dec. 30 will be their last non-conference game of the season.

Following the Buffalo game, Michigan State will be playing only B1G teams to finish off the year. Nebraska (Jan. 3), Michigan (Jan. 7), and No. 17 Wisconsin (Jan. 10) are the three next foes in Michigan State’s way.

Buffalo is 6-6 on the year as it prepares to take on the Spartans after Christmas. Tipoff in Michigan State’s final non-conference game of the season will be at 6 p.m. ET on BTN.

Izzo will have a chance to increase his team’s win streak to four games with a win.
