Michigan State DC praises 3 true freshman during Spartans’ fall camp

The Michigan State defense has a trio of true freshmen that are quickly making a name for themselves in fall camp.
Michigan State defensive coordinator Scottie Hazelton was effusive in his praise on Aug. 19 for cornerback Charles Brantley, defensive tackle Derrick Harmon, and linebacker Ma’a Gaoteote.
MSU DC Scottie Hazelton says freshman CB Charles Brantley has been “phenomenal.” Added he likes to hit, “he has contact courage.”

The 6-foot, 160-pound Brantley is ranked by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 38 cornerback. The 6-foot-4, 359-pound Harmon is considered by 247Sports to be the No. 26 prospect in Michigan. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound Gaoteote excelled at Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas.
Michigan State kicks off the season with a primetime road matchup at Northwestern on Sept. 3 (9 p.m. EST/ESPN).
