Michigan State defensive tackle Raequan Williams thought briefly about entering his name for the 2019 NFL Draft, but he’ll return to East Lansing for his final season.

In a tweet to Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press, Williams said “Yes I am staying in EL!” His message cleared up any confusion that the defensive lineman might be headed to the NFL.

With news that cornerback Justin Layne has already left the program to focus on his future at the professional level, Williams’ return is a nice boost for the Spartans.

Williams was a third-team All-B1G selection this season as the Spartans finished the year 7-5. He recorded 49 tackles, 9.5 for loss and 1.5 sacks. He also broke up five passes and forced a fumble.

The defensive tackle was been somewhat of an anchor for Michigan State throughout his career. He’s appeared in 36 career games, making 28 starts. His production has gradually improved each season as well, putting him on a trajectory to have a big final campaign in East Lansing.

In three seasons, Williams has racked up 108 tackles, 20.5 for loss and six sacks.

Michigan State will play Oregon in the Redbox Bowl on Dec. 31.
