Jarek Broussard will play for Mel Tucker again. The transfer tailback from Colorado announced his commitment to Michigan State on Sunday.

Broussard departs Colorado ranking 31st on CU’s all-time rushing list with 1,474 yards, averaging 5.44 yards per carry. He rushed for 100-plus yards in six career games. Broussard’s 301 yards at Arizona in 2020 was the fourth 300-yard rushing game in Colorado history.

Pac-12 coaches and the Associated Press voted Broussard conference Player of the Year for the 2020 season when he had 895 yards and 5 touchdowns on 156 carries in 6 games. This past season, Broussard carried the ball 142 times for 661 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Broussard arrived at Colorado in 2018 but did not play in his first 2 seasons. He redshirted in 2018 and then missed the 2019 season due to a knee injury. He rebounded from 2 ACL surgeries to be one of 3 recipients of the Mayo Clinic Comeback Player of the Year Award for 2020.

Colorado considered Broussard a sophomore in both the 2020 and 2021 seasons, applying his NCAA waiver to not count 2020 against his eligibility. Tucker coached the Buffs for the 2019 season before taking the Michigan State job.
