Michigan State LB Antjuan Simmons reveals decision for 2021

Michigan State’s star linebacker is heading to the 2021 NFL Draft.

Antjuan Simmons made it official Friday evening, revealing on his Twitter page that he will not be using the extra year of eligibility handed out by the NCAA this year. Instead, the senior will wrap up his collegiate career and prepare for the draft after an impressive Spartan career.

In his announcement, Simmons thanked Mel Tucker, the coach for his final season in East Lansing, and legendary head coach Mark Dantonio, the coach that originally recruited him to the Spartans:

In 2020, Simmons led the Spartans in tackles by a wide margin with 75 total tackles in seven games. No other Spartan had more than 54. He added 9.0 TFL and a sack.

Simmons also led Michigan State in 2019 with 90 tackles in 13 games to go along with 15.0 TFL and 3.5 sacks. Only Kenny Willekes had more TFL (15.5) than Simmons in 2019.

For his career, Simmons finishes with 230 total tackles, 26.0 TFL, 4.5 sacks, an interception, three fumble recoveries, and two forced fumbles. Best of luck to Simmons as he takes the next step in his career!
