Former Michigan State forward Draymond Green sent a nice note out to Spartans signees Max Christie and Jaden Akins on Monday afternoon.

Christie and Akins are the first members of a stacked recruiting class to arrive in East Lansing to begin their collegiate careers.

Christie is a 5-star shooting and is ranked as the No. 1 player in the country at that position. Akins is a 4-star point guard and is the No. 51 overall player in the class. Both rankings are via 247Sports Composite.

4-star small forward Pierre Brooks rounds out Michigan State’s 2021 class, which is ranked No. 10 nationally and No. 2 in the Big Ten according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s expected to arrive on campus later this summer.

The Spartans have the No. 3 class in the country amongst programs who only took three commitments in this class, trailing just Kentucky and Alabama.

Green just wrapped up his ninth season in the NBA after playing for the Spartans from 2009-12. As a senior, he scored 16.2 points per game and was named Big Ten Player of the Year. He was eventually drafted No. 35 overall in the 2012 NBA Draft.
