Michigan State’s 2024 recruiting class has taken another hit.
Anthony Carrie, a blue-chip running back out of Florida, announced Monday that he has backed off his pledge to the Spartans. He shared the news to Hayes Fawcett of On3.

A standout at Carrollwood Day in Tampa, Carrie is listed as measuring 6-feet and 185 pounds. On the 247Sports Composite, Carrie is rated 4-stars, the No. 20 running back, No. 39 recruit in the state of Florida and No. 287 prospect overall in the Class of 2024.
Carrie’s commitment was a big get for the Mel Tucker staff at MSU. The Spartans beat out 43 other scholarship offers to secure Carrie’s verbal pledge on June 24. Those pledges, though, are nonbinding. With the Early Signing Period 1 month away, Carrie is apparently looking to sign elsewhere.
Since committing to Michigan State, Carrie has taken official visits to NC State and South Carolina this month. MSU has 8 remaining commitments in its class.
Michigan State’s next coach will have to work quickly to assemble a 2024 recruiting class. The Early Signing Period is held Dec. 20-22, with National Signing Day in February.
