Michigan State has named its captains for the 2017 season, and the list is pretty short.

Just two players were named as captains for the year, linebacker Chris Frey and offensive lineman Brian Allen will represent the Spartans.

The team’s official Twitter page released the statement on Wednesday.

According to Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press, Michigan State typically names three captains every year. Apparently, though, head coach Mark Dantonio toned that down to just two for the upcoming season.

Allen enters the 2017 season having appeared in 38 games and has made 15 straight starts on the offensive line. Frey has started at linebacker each of the last two seasons and has racked up 139 career tackles.

Both players are seniors.

Michigan State opens the season on Sept. 2 against Bowling Green.
