This year’s bowl pairings were released on Sunday and Michigan State didn’t seem overly happy about how a certain team was assigned a certain bowl game over it.
The Spartans were selected to attend the Holiday Bowl, while their in-state rival the Michigan Wolverines are heading down to the Outback Bowl, which is a Jan. 1 game. That certainly did not sit well with Michigan State players, as they felt they were more deserving to be in Tampa than Michigan.

What’s the point of playing a regular season if bowl decisions and made regardless of record?

used to think postseason awards& bowls were chosen based on what you do on the field but I now know it’s a popularity contest. Interesting

The Outback Bowl is New Year’s Day bowl game, which gets plenty of viewership. And with the Spartans finished the season 9-3 and even defeated the 8-4 Wolverines earlier this year. Plus, Michigan is the only B1G team playing on Jan. 1. So, I can see why Michigan State can be a little upset. However, coach Mark Dantonio and company are grateful for the opportunity to play in a bowl because they missed one last year.
Dantonio: “You tend to want to play on Jan. 1” in a bowl game. Doing his best to pump up how good the experience the Holiday Bowl is for players, fans and families. Says he will be there next week for a press conference.
