Michigan State QB Brian Lewerke has thought about shutting it down for season

Michigan State has had an up-and-down season in 2018.

It doesn’t necessarily have to do with talent. More so, it has to do with health.

Running backs, wide receivers, defensive players and multiple punters have had injuries extending over multiple games, causing a typical starting lineup to be impossible to create. Outside of all the aforementioned positions suffering injuries, quarterback has been another.

In particular, starter Brian Lewerke.

It has been noted this season Lewerke is dealing with an injured shoulder and right arm. That’s not good if you’re a QB.

On Saturday against Ohio State, Michigan State lost at home 26-6. No touchdowns were scored by the Spartans. At one point, Lewerke was replaced by backup QB Rocky Lombardi.

After the game, part of the reason for his replacement may have been because of what Lewerke said:

Lewerke may end up getting some heat for this. But at the same time, if you know that you’re hurt and the team has a better chance with the backup being in because of the injury, what’s wrong with saying something?

The 6-foot-3 junior has appeared in 9 games this season, so there is no possibility for taking a redshirt.
