Michigan State QB Payton Thorne previews rivalry clash with Michigan

Michigan State vs. Michigan, no matter the year, is almost always a close game—especially in the 21st century. From the Spartans’ Jalen Watts-Jackson’s blocked punt return for a game-winning touchdown in 2015, to their 33-27 win over the Wolverines last year.
The game is always one that Michigan State looks forward to, whether it bolsters their season, or ruins Michigan’s.
Quarterback Payton Thorne detailed the matchup with WXYZ Detroit sports anchor Jeanna Troutman.
“We’re not going to sit here and tell you it’s just like any other game,” Thorne said.
Even though the Spartans sit at 3-4, they have a chance to put all of it behind them with a win on Saturday.
“We believe in us and don’t listen to the noise,” he told Troutman. “Those people aren’t with us every day; They don’t understand the things that go on on a day-to-day basis. We’re focused on us and we’ll focus on our process and be ready to go for Saturday.
Michigan State sits as 22.5-point underdogs against the rolling Wolverines. They’ll be facing an uphill battle in Ann Arbor, but anything is possible in college football.
