Michigan State RB Kenneth Walker makes decision on Peach Bowl

Michigan State will head to the Peach Bowl without its star running back.
On Thursday afternoon, Kenneth Walker III announced that he will forgo the Peach Bowl and begin preparing for the 2022 NFL Draft. Michigan State earned a trip to the New Year’s Six bowl after finishing the 2021 campaign with a 10-2 record.
Walker’s time at Michigan State will come to an end after 1 season. He transferred to the Spartans from Wake Forest and was named the B1G Running Back of the Year and received the Doak Walker Award, presented to the nation’s top back.
“It has been a true honor to represent Michigan State University and wear the Green and White. I am beyond grateful to Coach Tucker and the entire staff for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to shine under their leadership,” Walker wrote on Twitter. “As the regular season has come to a close, I would like to announce that I have decided to forgo playing in the Peach Bowl to begin preparation for the NFL Draft.
“I would like to thank God, my family, teammates, fans and all my coaches over the years for helping me become the player and man I am today. I will forever be a Spartan Dawg.”

Walker rushed for 1,636 yards and 18 touchdowns during Michigan State’s 10-2 campaign, which included victories of Michigan and Penn State. During his previous 2 seasons at Wake Forest, Walker rushed for 579 yards each year and totaled 17 touchdowns.
Michigan State is scheduled to play Pitt in the Peach Bowl on Dec. 30.
