After a blowout win over Washington State in the Holiday Bowl on Thursday night, Michigan State got an even bigger surprise. Running back L.J. Scott will be returning to East Lansing for his senior season.

The Spartans posted a 42-17 win over the Cougars in the Holiday Bowl, closing out the year with a 10-3 record and posting its first bowl victory since 2014. Following the win, Scott told a FOX reporter that he plans on returning to Michigan State for the 2018 season to close out his college career.

Scott rushed for 898 yards and 8 touchdowns in 2017, leading the Spartans on the ground. He close the season strong on Thursday, totaling 110 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries against Washington State.

With Scott back in the mix, Michigan State’s offense could be one of the most potent in the B1G in 2018.

Michigan State got more than one victory while in San Diego. And Scott’s announcement means the Spartans could be competing for a B1G title again next season.
