Mel Tucker didn’t have to travel very far to get his latest commitment in the 2021 recruiting class. The second verbal pledge to Michigan State’s class is a native of East Lansing.

Thursday, three-star offensive tackle Ethan Boyd announced his decision to commit to the Spartans. He’s the second player in the last three days to verbally commit to MSU, joining three-star running back Davion Primm.

Boyd made his announcement on Twitter.

Boyd is a 6-foot-7, 285-pound offensive tackle who would bring great size to the Michigan State front. That’s been an area of concern for the Spartans over the last few seasons, especially as the offense has struggled to run the football and put points on the scoreboard.

According to 247Sports. Boyd ranks as the No. 75 offensive tackle in the 2021 recruiting class and is one of the top 25 players out of the state of Michigan. In addition to MSU, 13 other schools showed interest, including Cincinnati, Indiana, Iowa State, Minnesota and Vanderbilt, among others.

Michigan State’s 2021 class now sits at No. 13 in the B1G and 58th nationally.
