Michigan State got it done this time. After recently falling short against Gonzaga, Tom Izzo’s squad got the win against another perennial power, knocking off No. 4 Kentucky Tuesday night in the Champions Classic.

It took double overtime for MSU to get the 86-77 win in Indianapolis. Mady Sissoko (16 points, 5-of-10, 8 rebounds) put it away with a slam in 2OT.

Malik Hall was the man in the final seconds twice. Hall made it 62-62 in the final seconds of regulation and 71-71 at the end of the first overtime.

Hall finished with 20 points (7-of-11, 5 rebounds). Joey Hauser (8-of-16, 8 rebounds) was the game’s leading scorer with 23 points.

Oscar Tshiebwe (22 points, 9-of-17, 18 rebounds), the Kentucky star who won last season’s Wooden Award for player of the year, fouled out with 32 seconds left in the first overtime.

Kentucky led for over 33 minutes, but Michigan State finished on a 13-1 run in the final 3:39. There were 14 ties lasting 9:13 and 10 lead changes.
