Michigan State head women’s basketball coach Suzy Merchant has reached a new impressive milestone. On Friday afternoon, she registered her 300th career victory as the leader of the Spartans.

Friday’s victory came in impressive fashion, with the Spartans posting a 100-60 win over Bryant. Michigan State improved to 4-0 and saw four players hit double figures in scoring.

Nia Clouden led the team with 21 points and Alyza Winston chipped in 16. Tamara Farquhar and Matilda Ekh each added 12 for the Spartans in the 40-point win.

Merchant has been the head coach at Michigan State since 2007 and has led her teams to two B1G regular season titles in 2011 and 2014. Prior to taking over in East Lansing, she’s had stops at Saginaw Valley State and Eastern Michigan.

For her career, Merchant is responsible for over 500 wins as a college head coach.

Merchant’s Michigan State teams have finished with a winning record in her 14 seasons. The Spartans have made 10 NCAA Tournament appearances and a pair of WNIT berths during her tenure. MSU has missed the postseason just twice, with one of those being in 2020 when events were canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Merchant will have an opportunity to add to her impressive win total on Sunday, when the Spartans play Fordham at 2 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
