Michigan baseball is the king of the B1G, taking home the tournament championship with a 10-4 win over Rutgers! It goes down as the 10th tournament title for the Wolverines all-time and their first since 2015.

The win also guarantees that Michigan will return to the NCAA Tournament with the automatic bid from the B1G. That makes it 3 straight trips to the tournament in 2019 and 2021-22. (The 2020 tournament was canceled due to COVID-19.)

Sunday evening’s win over Rutgers was truly a complete performance with the pitching and offense both coming up big. The big blow that provided Michigan the separation came in the 8th inning off the bat of Jimmy Obertop.

Already up 5-3, Obertop launched a 3-run home run to put the Wolverines up 8-3. It was Obertop’s third home run of the weekend as Michigan went on to win 10-4.

Michigan definitely enters the NCAA Tournament as a team firing on all cylinders offensively. The Wolverines scored 48 runs (9.6 per game) and posted a +23 run differential in 5 B1G Tournament games.

Now, it’s time to wait and see where Michigan lands to open the postseason with Monday’s selection show.
