Michigan tight end Jake Butt had some good news on Tuesday evening.

The John Mackey Award winner, who suffered a torn ACL in the second quarter of the Orange Bowl against Florida State, had surgery on his knee this week and is now recovering.

Tuesday night, he reassured family, friends and fans that his surgery went well and is hoping for a speedy recovery:

Butt’s ACL tear was particularly concerning considering his potential at the next level. He was considered one of the country’s top tight ends by NFL scouts, currently ranking seventh at his position per CBS Sports. The senior is currently projected as a third or fourth round pick.

At the end of his career at Michigan, Butt caught 138 passes for 1,646 yards and 11 TDs. In 2016, he had 46 receptions, earned 546 yards and reached the end zone four times.

Hopefully Butt has a speedy recovery and will have a long career in the NFL.
