There are peaks and valleys in the recruiting season.
Fortunately for Michigan, there have been more of the former than the latter since Jim Harbaugh took over.
Unfortunately for Michigan, now is not one of those times.
Four-star 2018 offensive guard Jalin Irvin announced that he was opening his recruitment, making him the Wolverines’ third de-commitment in 24 hours:

Irvin is rated as the No. 12 guard and the No. 289 player overall in the 2018 class.
He was actually the second Georgia de-commitment in the last 24 hours. The first of which was Aubrey Solomon, who de-committed after Michigan allegedly had a mishap on a piece of recruiting mail. It’s unclear if that had any impact on Irvin’s decision.
Like Solomon, Irvin also announced his commitment back in June following Michigan’s satellite camp in Georgia.
For what it’s worth, Irvin did say that Michigan was still his “dream school,” and that Michigan was still in his top five.
Will he still wind up in Ann Arbor? Only time will tell.
