Michigan is heading in the wrong direction to wrap up 2023.

Coming out of a tough loss to Florida, the Wolverines headed into a nonconference finale against McNeese State out of the Southland Conference. Unfortunately, that game did not go well for Juwan Howard’s program.

When it was all said and done, Michigan shot less than 40% from the field, committed 15 turnovers and watched as McNeese put together an efficient performance. The Cowboys committed just 4 turnovers and shot 47.6% from the field and 7-for-17 from 3-point range with an 87-76 win.

The loss dropped Michigan below .500 at 6-7 overall, including losses to Long Beach State, Memphis and Texas Tech in the nonconference portion of the schedule. The latest loss is particularly disastrous, and the Southland Conference took matters into its own hands.

After the game, the conference fired off a handful of shots at the Wolverines, including a reference to former football analyst Connor Stalions. Take a look:

Other troll jobs from the Southland include references to the proper “Block M” usage and college basketball writer Jon Rothstein’s classic line when a big-time program loses a buy game:

Needless to say, this will be a night to forget for the Wolverines.
