A Michigan walk-on has impressed his coaches enough to earn a scholarship for his final season in Ann Arbor.

Louis Grodman, a defensive back entering his senior year with the Wolverines, announced via Twitter that he had received a scholarship for his final season. In his previous three seasons, he’s a two-time Academic All-B1G honoree and was a two-time Scout Team Player of the Week in 2017.

“Very blessed and proud to share that I have been put on scholarship,” Grodman tweeted. “I’m so thankful for all the friends, family and teammates that have helped me along the way. I’m excited for one last ride this fall.”

Grodman didn’t see game action until the 2018 season. He made his Michigan debut against Western Michigan on Sept. 8 on special teams. He also made appearances against SMU, Nebraska, Northwestern, Maryland and Wisconsin this fall. He made his lone tackle in a special teams effort against the Terrapins.

The defensive back also participated in Michigan’s Peach Bowl game against Florida.

In addition to football, Grodman has also lettered in golf, according to his bio on Michigan’s athletic website.
