Michigan’s first two offensive drives vs. Wisconsin could not have gone any worse

Dropping consecutive games to the Michigan State Spartans and Indiana Hoosiers, the Michigan Wolverines entered Saturday night’s contest against the No. 13 Wisconsin Badgers at 1-2.
Hoping to deliver a spirited performance and avoid starting 1-3 for the first time since 1967, things did not begin smoothly.
After forcing a Wisconsin punt on the game’s opening drive, Michigan redshirt sophomore quarterback Joe Milton was intercepted by redshirt junior safety Scott Nelson, who graduated from the University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Academy, on the team’s first play from scrimmage.

Four plays later, the Badgers capitalized, courtesy of a two-yard run by redshirt sophomore Nakia Watson, to take a 7-0 lead.
Instead of shaking this out of their system on their second drive, another interception reared its ugly head for the Wolverines, this time sophomore linebacker Leo Chenal was the responsible party.

Once again, Wisconsin took just four plays to find the end zone, as redshirt freshman quarterback Graham Mertz utilized play-action to find redshirt senior fullback Mason Stokke for a one-yard score.
