The rivalry between Michigan and Illinois on the hardwood is always intense. Michigan center Hunter Dickinson is adding some fuel to the fire with his recent comments.

During his appearance at B1G media day on Oct. 7, Dickinson wasn’t bashful to voice his feelings about Illinois’ fan base:

That’s some massive shade and should make for some fun back and forth this season. Illinois fans will get their chance to fire back at Dickinson when Michigan travels to Champaign on Jan. 14 (9 p.m. EST/FS1). Michigan then hosts Illinois on Feb. 27 (2 p.m. EST/CBS).

Michigan won the regular season B1G title and reached the Elite Eight last season. Illinois was eliminated in the Round of 32 last season.

There was controversy over the regular season title, as Michigan was crowned champion based on winning percentage despite playing three fewer games than the Illini.

The 7-foot-1, 255-pound Dickinson averaged 14.1 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks en route to earning First-team All-B1G and B1G Freshman of the Year honors.
