Jim Harbaugh has received a national honor from Pro Football Focus (PFF) after leading Michigan to a 12-1 season and a B1G title in 2021.

On Thursday, PFF revealed that Harbaugh has been named the site’s National Coach of the Year. The announcement comes a few days after the Wolverines defeated Iowa 42-3 in the B1G Championship Game.

Michigan has earned a spot in the College Football Playoff with the No. 2 ranking and will play Georgia in the Orange Bowl on New Year’s Eve.

Harbaugh made some significant changes to the Michigan staff in the offseason after a 2-4 year in 2020. Not much was expected out of this year’s Wolverines team, but a dynamic rushing attack, a strong defensive presence and elite special teams play resulted in the program’s best year of the Harbaugh era.

Michigan is now looking to turn a B1G East title and B1G championship into a national crown.

Regardless of what happens the remainder of the season, the 2021 season is considered to be Harbaugh’s best coaching job while in Ann Arbor.
