Michigan lost to bitter rival No. 5 Michigan State on Saturday afternoon 37-33 in East Lansing. At one point in the game, the Wolverines led the Spartans 30-14.

The loss dropped Michigan from No. 6 to No. 9 in the AP Top-25 Poll. The Spartans also gave the Wolverines their first loss of the 2021 season.

Michigan is 7-1 (4-1 in B1G play). The Wolverines have wins over Western Michigan, Washington, Northern Illinois, Rutgers, Wisconsin, Nebraska, and Northwestern. Michigan’s only loss is to Michigan State.

After taking their first loss of the season, the Wolverine players decided to have a players-only meeting Monday.

“Michigan has a player-led meeting scheduled for today. The plan is to discuss team goals and “recenter our focus as a team,” said Mike Sainstril, according to Daniel Dash of the Block M and Michigan Daily.

Michigan still has a chance for the B1G East crown but the Wolverines will need to play well and get a little help along the way. Michigan looks to bounce back next week while hosting Indiana at 7:30 pm ET on FOX.
