Michigan’s Tuesday night basketball game vs. Purdue-Fort Wayne called off

The new COVID-19 strain Omicron is starting to put a damper again in the world of sports. Several leagues including the NBA, NFL, and NHL, have either had to cancel, postpone or reschedule games because of the situation.
College basketball has been no exception. Over the last two weeks, multiple games have been canceled or postponed because of breakouts. Out of an abundance of caution, Tuesday night’s game between Michigan and Purdue-Fort Wayne has been called off.

There have been positive cases within the Purdue-Fort Wayne program, causing the cancelation. The team released a statement on the situation on Tuesday afternoon.
The team won’t play again until after the Christmas holidays when they face Central Florida on December 30.
Michigan put a statement basically saying that they will continue to look out for the health and well-being of their players and staff.
