Mickey Joseph was asked about the uncertainty of his job status following an upset win over the Iowa Hawkeyes. He was interviewed on the turf immediately following Nebraska’s Black Friday victory and asked about his interim coaching status.

“I can’t give it to myself,” said Joseph, regarding the head coaching job on BTN’s broadcast. “I’m going to celebrate with the team tonight, be on the couch tomorrow with my kids, and then, they’ll make a decision, and I’ll be okay with whatever decision they make.”

Joseph ended his interim tenure with a 3-6 record after taking over for Scott Frost. Joseph’s Huskers picked up wins over Indiana, Rutgers, and Iowa.

Matt Rhule has been the name most closely associated with the Nebraska job. A Friday report says the Huskers have “zeroed in” on Rhule, but nothing is official as of yet. Rhule was fired from the Carolina Panthers and has gained notoriety for turning around the Baylor and Temple programs.

Joseph has never been a head coach in the college level other than his interim status in 2022. Stay tuned for the latest updates regarding the Nebraska coaching search.
