Stop me if you’ve heard this before: CJ Stroud connects with Jaxon Smith-Njigba for a touchdown pass.

That was the theme of Ohio State’s Rose Bowl Game win over Utah in January and the quarterback-wide receiver tandem are picking up where they left off in the spring game. It didn’t take long for Stroud and Smith-Njigba to put points on the scoreboard Saturday afternoon.

On the first drive of Saturday’s spring game, Stroud hit Smith-Njigba on a 25-yard touchdown pass to give the offense an early lead in the game. Below is the highlight:

The tandem already appears to be in midseason form.

Stroud threw for 4,435 yards and 44 touchdowns last season and was named a Heisman Trophy finalist after leading the Buckeyes to a 10-2 record in the regular season. Smith-Njigba closed out the 2021 campaign with 1,606 yards and 9 touchdowns on 95 catches.

With Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson both moving on to the NFL Draft, Smith-Njigba is expected to be the focal point of the offensive passing attack in 2022.
