Mike Gundy is known for delivering memorable press conference comments throughout his career as the head coach at Oklahoma State. He was not in a jovial mood following a Guaranteed Rate Bowl loss to Wisconsin, and Gundy delivered another epic quote following one question.
In his postgame press conference, Gundy was asked about the potential for staff changes in the offseason. Gundy did not appreciate that question, telling the reporter “don’t be an ass” while also saying “don’t mess with people’s families” in regard to potentially firing or moving assistants.
“Do you think I would tell you if I was making staff changes? OK, well, I might have to cut you out, don’t be an ass,” Gundy said. “Those are those people’s lives man, it’s those people’s families, right? OK. You don’t mess with people’s families. Let’s do this the right way. You with me on this? It’s not fair to people’s families, man. I’m not mad about the game, I just don’t like ignorance.”
