Mike Locksley is coming off of a bowl game win in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl. Maryland beat N.C. State 16-12 for its first eight-win season since 2010.

After the game, Locksley discussed how much has changed since he took over in 2019. Locksley stated that so many improvements have been made that Ray Charles could see it.

“Where we are when I took over in 2019 to where we are today, Ray Charles could see [the improvement],” said Locksley.

The last Terps HC to win eight games or more in a single season was Ralph Friedgen. Friedgen guided Maryland to a Military Bowl victory over East Carolina in 2010.

Locksley revealed that before the Duke’s Mayo Bowl, Friedgen wished the current Maryland HC good luck via text message.

Maryland finishes the 2022 season at 8-5 with a bright future ahead of it. Locksley has definitely impacted the program for the better since taking over in 2019.
